Modification of Asphalt Binder with Waste Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Foam

نویسندگان

چکیده

Waste polymers are widely used in asphalt modification, especially, order to reduce their detrimental effect on the environment. This study discusses usability of waste expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam modification. In this respect, EPS foam, which produces both production and use stages, was mixed with bitumen by weight at ratios 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, dry modification method employed. The penetration, ductility, softening point, flash specific gravity values virgin were compared modified bitumen. comparison made graphical statistical methods. A strong correlation between physical properties ratio observed. drop observed penetration ductility values. Besides, it found analyses that 2% increase additive is not sufficient make a significant difference bitumen, therefore, should be least 4%. Overall, concluded can for hot regions where low required.

Use of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) and Shredded Waste Polystyrene (SWAP) Beads for Control of Mosquitoes

Background: Mosquitoes transmit several diseases to human. There are several measures for control of larvae. As part of Integrated Vector Management (IVM) program, the utility of floating layers of polystyrene beads (EPS) is a potential alternative in habitats of mosquito larva. EPS beads prevent oviposition of mosquito as well as killing the immature stages by forming a tick layer on the water...

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) floats for surveillance of Ochlerotatus japonicus.

Blocks of expanded polystyrene (EPS) were placed in a variety of habitats to investigate their potential as an egg-collection device for container-dwelling Aedes and Ochlerotatus species. Eggs from Ochlerotatus japonicus, Oc. triseriatus, Oc. hendersoni, and Aedes albopictus were collected with EPS floats. The float provides an inexpensive, low-maintenance alternative to the Centers for Disease...

Implication of expanded polystyrene and shredded waste polystyrene to control Anopheles spp, Bandar Abbas and Chabahar, Iran

Introduction: Due to insecticide resistance, environmental pollution and difficulty in biological control, usage of conventional larval control measures are not applicable in mosquito breeding places. As part of Integrated Vector Management program, we aimed to asses the effectiveness of two polystyrene beads types for Anopheles spp larvae control under laboratory, semi-field and field cond...

Utility of expanded polystyrene (EPS) beads in the control of vector-borne diseases.

The use of chemicals or bio-larvicides for the control of Culex quinquefasciatus and Anopheles stephensi breeding in pit latrines and overhead tanks (OHT) respectively is discouraged owing to many undesirable impacts in the environment. Due to faecal contamination and poor survival, use of predatory fish in OHTs is not feasible. The use of expanded polystyrene (EPS) beads is a potential alterna...
